Road infrastructure remains one of the key pillars to drive and support Zimbabwe’s development towards economic stability, Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Harare Metropolitan Charles Tawengwa said at the official opening ceremony for the National Heroes Acre access road.

With results becoming the priority, the path to Vision 2030 is no longer business as usual.

He congratulated the contractors for building the 1,6 km of access roads and praised those who demonstrated a dedication to the nation's growth.

"Your presence here demonstrates our shared commitment to preserving our nation via infrastructure development, which serves as the cornerstone for social and economic advancement.

"If it weren't for the diligent work and commitment of the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure Development team, led by Deputy Minister Joshua Sacco, and the invaluable advice provided by the Parliamentary portfolio committee on transport and infrastructure development as well as other stakeholders, particularly the contractors for a job well done, there would be no celebration today." Minister Tawengwa praised the Second Republic for its efforts to restore roads because they provided a convincing indication that Vision 2030 will be realized.

"As we continue to make significant progress toward the realization of Vision 2030, allow me to commend the Second Republic's efforts, headed by His Excellency Cde Dr. E.D. Mnangagwa, in promoting infrastructure development and road rehabilitation. "Yes, at this rate, Zimbabwe will undoubtedly rise to the upper middle class," he remarked. One of the most well-known national monuments in the nation, the National Heroes Acre protects the most significant historical and cultural resource of the country. It is the final resting place for the brave sons and daughters who gave their lives to ensure that Zimbabwe was free; their bravery will never be forgotten.

The Minister claimed that while the Museum for African Liberation will be a popular tourist destination, its building will also boost the local economy. "I'm sure you know that another historical site, the Museum for African Liberation, is being built right across the street and will feature a rich history of African liberation struggles. A footbridge that connects these two locations will provide guests with a comprehensive experience and a sense of life in Africa. It will have a huge economic impact and raise the GDP of our province considerably.

"Achieving the thematic areas enshrined in our national development strategies will be facilitated by outdoor recreation, scientific research, and educational opportunities, among other benefits," he stated. The building of the warriors Acre access roads, according to Deputy Minister Sacco, is a gesture of respect for the warriors and heroines entombed on the site. "We are working nonstop to support infrastructure restoration, with the completion of the National Heroes Acre road to the front offices, in the wake of the successful project to renovate the access roads to the national shrine.

This is being done to improve the image of our lovely country by giving our national shrine, the Heroes Acre, where our heroes who gave their lives to defend our hard-won independence are buried, the respect and prominence they deserve. He stated, "We are working to rebuild our road networks and increase the number of kilometers of good network infrastructure, and we have made significant progress since the start of the ERRP program."
