The lithium processing plant built by Rwizi Rukuru about 4km from Mutoko centre is now complete, with the Chinese company now conducting a test run to pave way for full-throttle production at Mashonaland East’s third lithium processing plant.

The factory is anticipated to generate 300 tonnes of spodumene and lepidolite concentrate per day when it begins operations. Lepidolite is a significant source of lithium that is mostly used as a supply of the element in rechargeable batteries, mobile phones, and aviation parts. Spodumene is an important lithium mineral that is frequently used in the creation of ceramics, tiles, and glass. Rwizi Rukuru's general manager, Ms Priviledge Mubaira, recently stated in Mutoko that production will soon begin.

The Rwizi Rukuru processing plant is fully constructed and owned by a Chinese firm. Although production has not yet begun, we are conducting a trial run to evaluate if we can obtain the required amounts of lepidolite and spodumene. Our daily production target is 300 tonnes of them. "During the construction phase, we hired a large number of workers, the majority of whom are Mutoko natives. We also hired people for general labor, security, and drivers while we conducted the test run, the spokesperson added. The business was pleased to be supporting the country's economic growth and job creation.

We are also encouraging tourism with this investment because many foreign visitors are coming to the nation and the Mutoko district. We are pleased that we are also giving many people—especially the locals—jobs. We have also participated in road reconstruction, dam repair, and donation to national events as part of our corporate social responsibility efforts.

"We also use our trucks to transport materials while building a number of school buildings. Due to Mutoko's water crisis, we are currently concentrating on drilling new boreholes and reviving some of these existing ones. Thus, we want to guarantee that everyone has access to drinkable water. We also want to help as many individuals as we can," the woman stated. The largest lithium processing factory, Prospect Lithium Zimbabwe, is located in Mashonaland East province and is situated in the Goromonzi area. The province is home to numerous more lithium processing factories. Shengxiang Investments (Pvt) Limited, a sizable lithium processing facility, is located in the Goromonzi area once more and is currently known as Rwizi Rukuru in Mutoko.
